Usually to be the best at something, you need to learn from the best. That’s why recently, we decided to put the spotlight on some fantastic, highly informative, YouTube videos put out there by none other than the Google team. These are videos for Webmasters ... made by Webmasters (Google Webmasters, to be exact).

These guys know their stuff… and it shows!  Here are five more videos that we think brilliantly educate on topics such as SEO, HTML, Content Relevance, and Responsive Design!

At the end of the day, it's a good way to get some YouTube quality time in - away from the dash cams and cute puppy videos..

Watch these videos now!

How can smaller sites become popular and beat the giants?

Why this video is interesting:

Cutts lays to rest the notion that webmasters with “small sites” stand no chance against the big boys. He brilliantly points out, the smaller site with superior content can absolutely outdo and outperform the larger site-- if something is done really well.

If you think about MySpace and then Facebook.. Mr. CEO was the small guy here.

Or what about Facebook and then Instagram?

If the founders of Instagram got discouraged and thought they’d never gain a market share since they were the new guys starting out, we probably wouldn’t have all those overused photo filters that we have today.

How can content be ranked if there aren't many links to it?

Why this video is interesting:

When Google is unable to judge the relevance of content thanks to the absence of links... Google has no choice but to revert back to the olden days of search… which, based on Cutts’ tone, is definitely possible, but it’s not a screaming endorsement for pages with no links.

He says the text on any page is judged and analyzed word by word.

“The first time we see a word on a page... count it a little bit more.  The next time, OK, a little more, but not a ton more.  After a while we say, you know what, we've seen this word... maybe this page is about this topic.”

He also touches on keyword stuffing and how this lowers your ranking.

Don't just think about the head, think about the body

Why this video is interesting:

No, he’s not talking about sex here. He’s talking about the importance of content in the body of a page.

Obvious to most, but believe it or not, not all.  You can do everything else right and well, but a little mistake like this could cost you the difference between a good and great PageRank!

How can an older website maintain its good ranking over time?

Why this video is interesting:

An established, well-ranked website with a terrific PageRank now, does not guarantee a forever-great ranking.  Sure, your site may be 14 or 15 years 0ld and at the top of Google’s search results now, but if you let your site become stale, you’ll likely suffer the consequences down the road.

Cutts says newer, more agile sites with a better user-experience— they can grow. And what happens then? They surpass you if you don't continue to adapt and evolve with the web-design times.

Therefore, you might want to take a good hard look at your old site, its design, and how it's serving your users.  Think ongoing makeovers!

A crash course on Responsive Design... from 2 masters

Why this video is interesting:

Rupert Breheny is Google's first British webmaster. He is an expert in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Accessibility, Validation, and Responsive Design.

John Mueller is a Google Webmaster Trends analyst.

Together, they delve deep into Responsive design.  It’s 2 masters talking about a subject they know most about, with plenty of examples to boot.  The video may be an hour long, but it’s highly educational and informative if you have a passion Responsive websites!

These individuals are the leading experts at what they do, and they provide an authoritative on a whole host of relevant topics to Webmasters today. We thank them for making us better Webmasters!
